In your small groups, spend the next 5 minutes discussing the differential diagnosis for low back pain (use framework below). Also discuss the specific diagnostic work up you want to perform for our patient (refer to virtual whiteboard information below).
Be sure to discuss the following aspects:
- What are the "can't-miss" diagnoses?
- Further lab tests?
- Is imaging indicated? If so, what modality? If not, why not?
- Are you consulting anyone overnight?
